The Middle Grades Program has been carefully designed to give our teacher candidates a firm foundation in the middle grades concept, so that they will be prepared to teach collaboratively in diverse settings. Middle grades teacher candidates must complete two 15 hour content specializations from the following four areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. A faculty advisor will assist the teacher candidate in selecting appropriate courses that meet graduation and certification requirements.
- Language Arts — 15 hours
- Mathematics — 15 hours
- Science — 15 hours
- Social Studies — 15 hours
The progression sheet lists required courses and electives. This allows the teacher candidate and advisor to track the progress toward the BS degree in Middle Grades Education.
