When is ARC open?
Face to face tutoring is available Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM in our main tutoring center in the Magnolia Building and from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM in the Residence Hall Study Room.
How much do ARC services cost?
All ARC services are free to all TU students, including individual tutoring, workshops, and all online services.
Can I bring my laptop/tablet?
Yes! Please do. While we do have a small number of computers, we encourage you to bring your own. Also please remember a flash drive or let us help you set up a cloud storage account so that you have access to your documents from anywhere.
Can I print my document in ARC?
No, ARC does not have printers available to students. Most professors accept digital versions of worth either through Blackboard or email. Instead of printer, ARC encourages students to use a flash drive and/or a cloud storage account.
Will my paper be proofread?
No but... We expect you to come to your appointment or include with online information your goals for the session. We want the session to focus on your goals.
However, we also want to teach you to become a self-editor, so we will also help you learn more about grammar, organization, research, editing, revising, and proofreading.
If my paper is reviewed in ARC, does that mean it does not need to be reviewed for plagiarism?
No, writing tutors focus appointments on your goals and seek to assist you with organization, support, and grammar in both online and face to face appointments. Writing tutors may or may not know your discipline; however, they are gifted in helping students become better writers. For these reasons, we strongly encourage every student to submit their papers to Turnitin.com for a similarity review well before the paper is due. If your professor has not given you access to Turnitin.com, please contact the Director for access through the ARC account.
How can I arrange to work with an ARC tutor on a writing assignment?
Face to face appointments are available Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM in our Main Campus site in the Magnolia Building and 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM in the Residence Hall Study Room.
You may submit a draft of your paper by emailing the Director at firstname.lastname@example.org. An online tutor will review your draft and provide you with feedback designed to teach you to recognize problem areas in your writing.
Online chat appointments are available through Skype or Collaborate. Please email the Director to arrange these meetings.
