General Information
Thomas University encourages applications from international students. At TU, applicant files are classified as "international" if they meet any of the criteria listed below. Supplemental application materials are needed for each of the following criteria, so review this web site carefully to see what is needed in your specific case.
Deadlines for International Applicants*
Fall Semester — June 1
Spring Semester — October 1
Summer Semester — February 1
Classification as an International Applicant
- You are not a U.S. citizen and are currently in the United States on an F-1 (student) visa.
- You are currently in the United States on some other class of visa. Please submit a copy of the visa from your passport.
Deadlines and Accuracy Are Crucial
- Apply on time. First, be sure that you apply and complete your file by the deadline. All required materials must be submitted by the deadline. Thomas University is not able to offer conditional admission.
- Indicate your admissions category. Be sure to check the correct category (first-year, transfer, second-degree, post-baccalaureate, transient, etc.). Note that second-degree and post-baccalaureate students must meet transfer requirements.
- Fill out the application carefully and completely*. Contact the Office of Admission if you have any questions or difficulties while applying.
- All international files require more documentation than traditional files, but how much more information depends on your situation. We suggest that you review the following categories to see what additional materials are needed in order for us to review your file. Remember: these materials must be submitted by the stated deadlines in order to have a complete file that is ready for review.
* Incomplete applications cannot be considered for acceptance, so please make sure to complete all necessary information that is required on the application.
Issuing an I-20
Please note that a student must be officially accepted to Thomas University before we can issue an I-20. In order to process a student’s I-20, we must receive:
- All admission requirements as listed on the international applications (both Undergraduate and Graduate).
- If you are currently a student at another institution in the United States and already have an F-1 visa, you will need a new I-20 issued by Thomas University. Therefore, you must submit all admission requirements necessary for transfer students.
* Please note: We cannot accept faxes or unofficial photocopies of financial letters or bank statements. All financial information must be dated less than one year prior to the first day of classes of the term you intend to begin study.
