AES Engineering
AES Engineering is pleased to offer scholarships to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education.
Award: $500
Criteria:
- AES Engineering's belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason, they are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.
- Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. Applicants are not required to take engineering courses to qualify.
- This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a postsecondary institution.
How to Apply: Submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of the two questions below:
1. If you had the authority to change your school in a positive way, what specific changes would you make?
2. How has your family background affected the way you see the world?
Please do not include your resume at this time. Be sure to include your full name as well as the name of the school you are attending in 2010-2011 and your plans for 2011-2012.

BigSun Scholarship
The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. They are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award regardless of the sport in which they participate.
Award: $500
Qualifications:
- High school senior
OR
- Currently attending a postsecondary institute
- Currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community
How to Apply: Submit a short essay answering the following question:
How has your participation in sports affected the person you are becoming?

Rotary Peace Fellowships
Are you interested in expanding your knowledge of peace building, conflict resolution, and mediation?
Rotary has partnered with seven leading universities around the world to host the Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution. Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 Fellows to study peace and conflict resolution at universities around the world.
Program's highlights include:
- A choice of either a three-month certificate course or master's degree program.
- The opportunity to study at one of seven universities around the world.
- Training in the root causes of conflict, theories of international relations, and effective models of cooperation, conflict resolution and negotiation.
- Full funding for tuition, housing expenses, and airfare.
- Access to a growing network of committed alumni employed around the world in diplomacy, government, non-governmental organizations and private corporations.
Eligibility:
- A strong commitment to international understanding and peace demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal and community service activities
- A bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience as a minimum, with strong academic achievement
- A minimum of three years’ combined paid or unpaid full-time relevant work experience (master’s degree) or five years’ relevant work experience with current full-time employment in a mid- to upper-level position (professional development certificate)
- Proficiency in a second language (if pursuing the master’s degree fellowship) or in English (if pursuing the professional development certificate)
- Strong leadership skills
The master's level degree program is aimed at mid-career professionals in government, nongovernmental organizations and private corporations. The certificate program is for professionals currently holding a mid- to upper-level position with a minimum of five years of experience in the field of peace and conflict resolution.

“Top Ten List” Scholarship
5 scholarships of $1,000 each
Applicants Must:
- Be 13 years of age or older
- Be legal residents of the 50 United States or D.C.
- Be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2016) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education
- Submit and online short written response (250 words or less) for the scholarship topic: “Create a ‘top ten list’ of the top ten reasons you should get this scholarship”
