POST Baccalaureate Certification Program
The Thomas University Division of Education goal is to prepare teacher candidates who are knowledgeable in content, and are able to employ a variety of instructional strategies to help all students learn. Division faculty are committed to helping the teacher candidate become an effective middle grades or secondary education teacher.
The Post Baccalaureate Certification Program is designed for the teacher candidate who already has a Bachelor’s degree in another field and wants to become a certified teacher. The teacher candidate may choose between the Middle Grades Education Program or the Secondary Education Program.
Our program offers small classes taught by highly qualified professors. Students entering each semester participate as a cohort of teacher candidates moving through the program together, providing the opportunity for students to build close working relationships. Professors and advisors are available for frequent advising and guidance. A carefully planned sequence of methods courses have clinical experiences embedded to provide early and frequent opportunities to practice in local schools under the supervision of a mentor teacher and university supervisor.
We invite you to join us and become an educator prepared to teach in the schools of tomorrow!
