Thomasville Singers to present ‘Devotion’ on April 7

The Thomasville Singers will present their spring concert, “Devotion,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Thomasville First United Methodist Church. Directed by Nicole Davis, the program will include selections by Joshua Rist, Eric Whitacre and more.

“I wanted the music of this concert to depict as many types of devotion as possible,” Davis said. “This broad theme also allows us to showcase multiple styles of music. We will sing of love, faith, family and country.”

While Thomasville Singers is part of Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU), its members are people from throughout the area.

“The group this year is multi-generational, which I love,” Davis said. “It's a true community choir. We are doctors, students, teachers, parents and grandparents. We learn from each other and grow stronger together.”

Thomasville Singers begin rehearsals in the fall of each year and perform both a winter and a spring concert.

“One of our favorite pieces this year is ‘The Runner’ by Joshua Rist,” Davis said. “It speaks of perseverance and the harmony between the runner and the earth. It is symbolic of how we work toward performing each semester. I hope our concert serves as a reminder of the beautiful things in life to which we can be devoted.”

A reception will follow the April 7 performance. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
