TU’s January Jazz concert to feature Thursday Night Music Club

Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present its annual January Jazz Fest on Sunday, Jan. 20, featuring Thursday Night Music Club from Tallahassee.

“Most people in the area are familiar with the fantastic Thursday Night Music Club,” said Dr. Karl Barton, ACTU series coordinator. “They're well-known for being a group of incredibly talented musicians who enjoy performing together, and that shows in everything they do.”

Thursday Night Music Club, considered “Tallahassee’s Community Big Band,” began in 2006 and consists entirely of volunteer musicians. Their repertoire includes jazz, swing, funk, blues, rock and Latin jazz. Thursday Night Music Club has performed at numerous events in the Tallahassee area, such as Tallahassee Downtown Winter Festival, Springtime Tallahassee, Opperman Music Hall, Southwood Big House Boogies, SouthWoodStock and more.

“We’re excited to bring Thursday Night Music Club to Thomasville and share their talents with the Thomasville area,” Barton said.

The concert is part of the Sundays at Four series and will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, on the theater stage at the Thomasville Center for the Arts, located at 600 E. Washington St. For additional information, email actu@thomasu.edu or call 229-227-6964.
