Violinist Benjamin Sung to perform at TU Nov. 9

Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present award-winning violinist Benjamin Sung as part of its Fridays at Noon series on Nov. 9. The concert is free and will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 9, in Balfour Chapel on Thomas University’s Forbes Campus, 1501 Millpond Road, Thomasville.

Dr. Sung is Assistant Professor of Violin at the Florida State University College of Music. He is also concertmaster of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, a faculty member of the Brevard Music Center and principal second violin of the Brevard Music Center Orchestra.

Dr. Sung holds a bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music along with master’s and doctorate degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He also studied at the Professional Training Program at Carnegie Hall, the Lucerne Festival Academy, the New York String Seminar and the Chamber Music Residency at the Banff Centre. Dr. Sung is a past winner of the Starling Award of the Eastman School of Music, the Violin Fellowship of the Montgomery Symphony and an Aaron Copland Fund Recording Grant.
