TU to host Juliana Gray as part of Georgia Poetry Circuit

Founded at Mercer University in 1985, the Georgia Poetry Circuit is a consortium of 10 Georgia colleges and universities working together to bring poets of national and international reputation annually to members’ campuses.

Now the Georgia Poetry Circuit includes events at Thomas University. At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, Juliana Gray will read her poetry in the Flowers Foods Executive Classroom inside Smith-Bonvillian Hall located on TU’s Forbes Campus.

Gray is a poet and English professor, originally from Alabama, who currently resides in western New York, where she teaches at Alfred University.

Gray grew up in Anniston, Alabama. She earned a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee and received a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati.

She is the author of two full-length poetry collections. The most recent, “Roleplay,” won the 2010 Orphic Prize and was published by Dream Horse Press. “Roleplay”also won the 2013 Eugene Paul Nassar Poetry Prize for the best annual poetry collection published by an upstate New York author.
