ACTU to feature Duo Paloma on Oct. 26

Arts for the Community at Thomas University’s next performance in the Fridays at Noon series will feature musicians Longineu Parsons and Joanna Sobkowska-Parsons, who perform as Duo Paloma, at 12 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Thomasville First United Methodist Church Chapel.

Duo Paloma features trumpet and piano music that traverses boundaries of time and culture with music from France, Russia, Spain, the Americas and the African Diaspora.

Parsons has performed in more than 30 countries throughout the world, appearing before such dignitaries as the King of Morocco, the President of Gabon, the Royal Family of the Netherlands, the President of Austria, and the U.S. Ambassador to France.

Dr. Sobkowska-Parsons’ piano repertoire includes masterworks of the Classic and Romantic eras, as well as numerous works from the 20th century repertoire. As a chamber music pianist and accompanist, she has appeared with many prominent musicians in a broad repertoire ranging from Baroque music to premiers of new compositions. Both performers are music faculty at Florida A&M University.
