TU to hold fourth annual Earth Day Fair

Thomas University’s Sustainability Group will bring together businesses and groups interested in sustainability and environmental issues for the fourth annual Earth Day Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, on TU’s Forbes Campus.

With the theme “Building Sustainability Awareness,” the fair will bring together like-minded non-profits, businesses and individuals for a day of sharing knowledge. Organizers aim to educate TU students and employees as well as the greater community about sustainability issues and practices by encouraging people to think about the environmental impact of their everyday choices.

The Earth Day Fair will include demonstrations, exhibits and items for purchase. Participating businesses and non-profits include Grassroots Coffee, Full Moon Apiary, Fuzzy Goat, Maisie Daze Fleecery, Sweet Bay Soaps, Keep Thomas County Beautiful, Grady EMC, Friends of Lost Creek Forest, Ochlockonee River Water Trail and Wolf Creek Trout Lily Preserve.

Grady EMC representatives will present the “Live Line Demo” to educate participants about power distribution systems and the safety aspects of working with electricity. Keep Thomas County Beautiful will recognize the Y.E.S. (Youth Environmental Stewardship) program schools in a ceremony at 1 p.m. in the Flowers Foods Executive Classroom inside Smith-Bonvillian Hall.
