A group of middle school students in Thomas University’s Pre-College Programs represented the state of Georgia in the regional Academic Bowl competition held Saturday, March 24, during the Southeastern Association of Educational Opportunity Programs Personnel’s 2018 Student Initiative at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. Team members include (from left) Jordan Williams, Craig McCray, Luther Marable, Bryce Sweeting, Oxzavier Rivers, Gabriel Duncan, Azaria Garland, Amani Curry, Travinia Jenkins, Cameron Ezell, Sanaa White, Shaniya Anderson, Ibrahim Mackey, Jenaya Coleman. Joining them is Delanda Jenkins, a TU Pre-College Programs staff member.

 

TU’s Pre-College Programs students win at regional Academic Bowl Competition

Thomas University Pre-College Programs (TUPCP) middle school students attended the Southeastern Association of Educational Opportunity Programs Personnel’s (SAEOPP) 2018 SAEOPP Student Initiative at Atlanta Metropolitan State College in Atlanta on Saturday, March 24.

These students represented the state of Georgia in the regional Academic Bowl Competition. They competed against teams from Florida, Tennessee and Mississippi. The TU Pre-College team placed second overall. The team took home first place in the Super Quiz Bowl sweeping all three rounds of the contest. The TU Pre-College team also placed second in the written exam and in the spelling exam.

There were two individual award winners. Bryce Sweeting placed second in the written exam, and Jenaya Coleman placed second in the spelling exam. ­

Team members attend Bainbridge Middle School, Macintyre Park Middle School and Thomas County Middle School.
