Night Hawk Review Poetry Slam set for Oct. 19

Thomas University students will share their original poetry during the Night Hawk Review Poetry Slam and open mic night on Thursday, Oct. 19. A panel of judges will present prizes for the best poems.

The students will be joined by Canadian poet Sandy Pool as a guest presenter. She is also an editor and professor of creative writing. Pool is the author of two full-length poetry collections and a chapbook published by Vallum Editions. Her first collection, “Exploding Into Night”(Guernica Editions), was a shortlisted nominee for the Governor General’s Award for English language poetry in 2010.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Art Room inside the Student Life Center on the Magnolia Campus, located at 1550 Magnolia St. in Thomasville. The public is welcome. There is no admission charge, and refreshments will be served.
