Thomas University welcomes new students to campus Aug. 10, 11

Thomas University’s newest group of residential students will move into their on-campus residence halls on Thursday, Aug. 10. About 120 new students plus their family members will be on campus Friday, Aug. 11, for the annual New Student Orientation.

With the theme, “Somewhere You Want TU Be,” the event will begin at 9:30 a.m. on TU’s Magnolia Campus, 1550 Magnolia St., with registration and a breakfast hosted by the TU Alumni Association in the gymnasium. From there, students and parents will split into two different tracks. Students will remain on the Magnolia Campus and attend small group sessions in the Student Life Center. Parents will attend information sessions on the Forbes Campus, at the intersection of Millpond Road and Pinetree Boulevard.

“We are delighted to have so many new students and their parents or spouses joining us for New Student Orientation,” said Dr. Bob Bohman, TU Vice President for Student Life. “This is a great opportunity for them to learn what Thomas University has to offer and to answer any questions they may have. We’re looking forward to a great year with a fantastic group of students.”

During New Student Orientation, students and family members will learn about working with academic advisers; using student accounts; navigating Blackboard, TU’s online learning platform; financial aid; student life and more.

“It’s important for parents and students to learn what to expect as students begin their college careers,” said Courtney Rosa, Student Activities Coordinator. “We want to make sure not only students are prepared, but their parents are prepared as well. That’s why we cater New Student Orientation to achieve these objectives.”

In addition to the on-campus New Student Orientation, TU also offers an online version.

Returning residential students will move on campus on Saturday, Aug. 12. Fall semester classes begin Monday, Aug. 14.
