Thomas University to host electronics recycling Nov. 14-15

Thomas University’s Sustainability Committee is partnering with Keep Thomas County Beautiful and the City of Thomasville to hold an electronics recycling event Nov. 14-15 on TU’s Forbes Campus. The event is part of America Recycles Day, a nationally recognized event dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the U.S.

TU’s Sustainability Committee members chose to focus on electronics recycling because only 27 percent of electronics are actually recycled. Annually about 2 million tons of unrecycled electronics end up in landfills.

A container for electronics will be available to the public in the main parking lot of TU’s Forbes Campus near the Pinetree Boulevard entrance. Items accepted for recycling include computers, monitors, mice, printers, radios, cell phones, DVD players, fax machines and any handheld electronic device. Hard drives should be erased before recycling. Televisions are not included in this recycling event.
