Thomas University announces 2016 Homecoming plans

Thomas University will celebrate its annual Homecoming with festivities Oct. 17-22 presented by Student Life and Alumni Relations. The public is invited to join TU students and alumni for these events.

Activities will kick off on Monday, Oct. 17, with a blood drive on TU’s Forbes Campus. One Blood’s Big Red Bus will be parked near the library and taking donations from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, Oct. 19, Student Life will partner with Goalline Ministries to host a corn hole tournament. The tournament will be held in the Academic Quad on TU’s Forbes Campus. Team sign-in starts at 6:30 p.m. Competition kicks off at 7 p.m. Contestants must register by Oct. 12 by emailing crosa@thomasu.edu or calling 229-226-1621 Ext. 1028.

Thomas University’s new president Dr. Andy Sheppard will be officially inaugurated during a ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in the gymnasium on TU’s Magnolia Campus. Afterwards, refreshments will be served and tours of the Magnolia Campus will be available.

A highlight of each year’s Homecoming celebration is the annual Alumni Awards and Reunion Dinner. This year’s dinner will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, on Rumble Terrace on TU’s Forbes Campus. The reunion starts at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple. Purchase tickets at tinyurl.com/2016TUHomecomingDinner or by calling 229-227-6903.

TU students, alumni and other supporters will root on the Night Hawks Men’s Soccer Team on Saturday, Oct. 22. The tailgate party will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on TU’s Forbes Campus. The game starts at 1 p.m.
