TU associate VP attends Harvard Institute for Educational Management

Dr. Jill Dennis, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing at Thomas University, spent two weeks in July at Harvard University participating in the Harvard Institute for Educational Management.

“I was honored to be selected to participate in Harvard’s 2016 Institute for Educational Management class,” Dennis said. “Class participants traveled to Harvard from Switzerland, Singapore, Ireland, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and most American states. It was an intensive two-week experience learning from senior leaders in higher education.”

Applicants compete for selection to the Institute based on their “scope of responsibility, their breadth of experience and their potential to help their institutions respond to changing needs and new opportunities,” according to the program’s website.

“Higher education leadership is increasingly challenging, and Jill takes those challenges head-on,” said Dr. Ann Landis, TU Executive Vice President and Provost. “She has been one of the primary leaders of Thomas University’s growth in enrollment, innovation and reputation.  The Harvard program is a great opportunity to reflect and develop one’s experiences, talents and networks.  It’s no surprise Jill was selected for the Harvard IEM Class of 2016 since she is a gifted leader and the kind of person who really takes advantage of professional development, always bettering herself and her contributions to TU.”

The institute considers the role senior-level leaders play at their respective institutions and how they can help their institutions deal with evolving needs and opportunities as they arise.

“I gained a powerful network for insight in all areas of executive leadership within higher education,” Dennis said. “It was a time for collective and individual reflection to understand the opportunities we have to make institutions stronger and better. I returned from an incredibly rewarding professional experience with a renewed purpose for further contributing to Thomas University’s long-term success.”
