TU names Meis new Associate VP for Academic Affairs

Dr. John Meis recently joined Thomas University as the new Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Before joining TU, Meis spent the past 16 years as a faculty member and academic administrator at Flagler College’s branch on the campus of Tallahassee Community College. In that role he led the departments of Business and Education, which included programmatic assessment and accreditation work, curriculum development, and support for instructional excellence.

“Dr. Meis’ broad academic background and experience in higher education teaching and leadership position him well to guide curriculum and instruction at TU,” said Dr. Ann Landis, TU Executive Vice President and Provost.  “We are very pleased that he has joined our academic leadership team.”

During his career, Meis has taught undergraduate courses in psychology, business and education as well as graduate courses in statistics and research methods with a special interest in sports psychology. In addition to his administrative title at TU, Meis also holds the faculty rank of associate professor of psychology.

Meis earned a bachelor’s degree from Rollins College. He also earned master’s and doctorate degrees in educational psychology and sports psychology from Florida State University.
