2016 Night Hawk Review to be released April 13

The 2016 edition of the Night Hawk Review, Thomas University’s creative arts journal, will debut during a poetry reading and release party at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the TU Library. The event will feature readings by some of the contributors to the publication as well as readings by guest poets Tana Jean Welsh and Brandi George.

Welsh, author of “Latest Volcano” is the winner of the 2015 Marsh Hawk Press Poetry Prize. Her poems have appeared in journals including “The Southern Review,” “The Gettysburg Review,” “Beloit Poetry Journal,” “Prairie Schooner” and the anthology “Best New Poets.” Welsh was raised in Fresno, California, and currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida, where she is an assistant professor of medical humanities at the Florida State University College of Medicine.

Originally from rural Michigan, George’s collection of poetry, “Gog,” won a gold medal in the 2015 Florida Book Awards. Poems from the book have been published in journals including “Best New Poets 2010,” “The Iowa Review,” “Gulf Coast,” “Columbia Poetry Review,” “Ninth Letter” and “Prairie Schooler.” George’s poems have won first place in the Dana Awards and the Zone 3 Poetry Awards. She currently lives in Tallahassee, where she is a doctoral candidate at FSU.
