ACTU and Thomasville Singers to feature new digital organ

Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present the Thomasville Singers with chamber orchestra, as part of the Sundays at Fourseries at 4 p.m. March 20 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Thomasville.

The program will be conducted by Raymond Hughes and will feature two of Händel’s coronation anthems, “Zadock the Priest” and “Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened,” as well as Mozart's “Regina Coeli.”

The concert will feature Hughes on the new Allen digital organ in Handel's “Organ Concerto in F Major,” subtitled “The Cuckoo and the Nightingale,” and Bach's “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.”

“The Allen organ represents the culmination of advanced 21st Century American technology specifically designed to serve the music of the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries,” Hughes said. “The community and Thomas University have been so supportive in getting this new organ. This community of music lovers must hear this beautiful instrument in concert.”

Admission for the general public is $10, and students will be admitted free. A reception will follow the performance. For additional information, call 229-227-6964 or email actu@thomasu.edu.
