TU teams up with Florida Military Family & Community Covenant to help student veterans

Thomas University President Dr. Gary Bonvillian (right) and Matthew Buckner (left), President of the TU Student Veterans Association, joined forces with Rae Pike, Director of the Florida Military Family and Community Covenant during the Student Veterans of America 8th National Conference held recently in Orlando, Florida. More than 2,000 student veterans from across the country attended. Bonvillian, Buckner and Pike shared with visitors the Covenant’s mobile phone app “Help for Vets” which connects veterans looking for assistance with other veterans, called “battle buddies,” who serve as mentors offering assistance and advice. The Florida Military Family and Community Covenant is a Tallahassee community-based advocacy and support organization. Bonvillian, an Army Infantry Vietnam Combat veteran, serves as chair of the board of directors for the Covenant. The partnership with the Covenant is one aspect of TU’s commitment to being a veteran-friendly university.
