TU Alumni Association announces plans for Homecoming 2015

The Thomas University Alumni Association is planning several activities to celebrate Homecoming 2015. With the theme “Our Roots Run Deep,” the celebration will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, through Saturday, Oct. 31.

Homecoming festivities will kick off on Oct. 28 with the Women’s and Men’s Soccer Teams’ doubleheader and a tailgate party. The Night Hawks teams will compete under the lights of Remington Park at 1050 Remington Ave. in Thomasville against SCAD-Savannah. The Women’s Soccer Team will play at 5 p.m., and the Men’s Soccer Team will play at 7:30 p.m. Before the games get under away, alumni are invited to drop in to the tailgate party at Remington Park that will last from 5 to 8 p.m.

Homecoming activities will continue on Oct. 29 with the annual Chili Cook-off set for 6 p.m. on TU’s Magnolia Campus. To compete, contestants should register with Joe Newborn, Director of Alumni and Foundation Relations. Prizes will be awarded to the top chili cooks. Chili tasting and judging is open to the community, so guests are invited to participate in the tasting as well. Chili Cook-off winners will be announced at the TU Basketball pep rally that begins immediately following the chili cook-off at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium on Magnolia Campus.

On Oct. 30 the Alumni Association will honor its most outstanding alumni during the annual Alumni Awards and Reunion Dinner that will be held on the Main Campus on the Sue Rumble Terrace. The reunion starts at 6 p.m., and the dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 and include dinner, drinks, music and great company.

Homecoming festivities will wrap up on Oct. 31 with an afternoon of fall fun for the whole family. Trunk-or-treating and a costume contest will be held on TU’s Magnolia Campus starting at 3 p.m. Then at 4 p.m., guests are invited to cheer on the Women’s Basketball Team in the gymnasium as they face Reinhardt College.
