Thomas University to break ground for new residence halls

Thomas University will officially break ground for new residence halls during a ceremony set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, on TU’s Magnolia Campus at 1550 Magnolia Street in Thomasville, Georgia.

The two residence halls will be constructed on the Magnolia Campus. Both residence halls will be ready for students by Fall Semester 2016. Plans for the Magnolia Campus include the construction of four additional residence halls in the future.

Once completed, the first two residence halls will house 80 students in apartment-style suites. TU will continue to use its original residence hall, which is located on Pinetree Boulevard near the intersection with US Highway 319 approximately one mile west of Magnolia Campus.

“The Magnolia Campus is essential to the future of Thomas University,” said Dr. Gary Bonvillian, TU President. “When we purchased the property in 2011, we realized what incredible potential it has for the growth of Thomas University.”

Located on the former Magnolia School property, renovations on the Magnolia Campus also began in 2011. The gymnasium was completely renovated and became home to TU’s Basketball teams. About one-third of the Student Life Center has been renovated to house the Athletics offices, Student Life offices, Pre-College Programs offices, a training room and a fitness center. The remainder of the building will be renovated in the coming years as TU’s programs expand.

Other future plans include adding athletic fields on Magnolia Campus.
