Motown Sounds set for Sept. 13

Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present “Motown Sounds” as the first concert of the Sundays at Four series on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 4 p.m. at the Thomasville Center for the Arts, 600 E. Washington St., Thomasville.

The program will feature vocalists Tony Chapman, Rebecca Fadell, Hananel Jackson, Lisa Mitchell and Bonnie Woodbery along with instrumentalists Jim Amend, Bob Branciforte and members of the Thomas University Jazz Ensemble.

The program will feature a wide range of songs by great Motown label artists such as the Supremes, the Temptations, the Commodores, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and others.

“Their slogan in the 1960s was ‘The Sound of Young America,’ and these classic songs really bring the era to life,” said series coordinator Dr. Karl Barton. “We are excited about featuring these great hits from Motown to kick off our season!”

The concert is free and open to the public with a suggested donation of $5. A reception will follow the performance. For additional information, visit thomasu.edu/actu or call 229-227-6964.
