ACTU to present Flute and Harpsichord Friday

On Friday, March 20, at noon, Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present Florida State University flute professor Eva Amsler and Israeli harpsichordist Shalev Ad-El in recital as part of the Fridays at Noon series. The performance will be held in the Balfour Chapel of Thomas University, located at 1501 Millpond Road in Thomasville.

Ad-El is music director of the Netania Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra in Israel, graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and won first prize at the Francois Shapira Competition.

“We are lucky to have artists of this caliber on our series,” stated series coordinator Dr. Karl Barton, “Mr. Ad-El will be performing on the harpsichord that Paul Liljestrand built with his father.”

An active performer and conductor, Ad-El is a member of Il Gardellino and The Dorian Consort, Berlin Philharmonic Stadivarius Soloists. He is also the music director of Accademia Daniel and Oslo Baroque Soloists.

The program will include works by Telemann, Corelli, J.S. Bach and C.P.E. Bach. The concert is free and open to the public. A complimentary luncheon will follow the performance.
