Belle and the Band

ACTU presents Folk Music Friday

At noon Friday, Feb. 20, Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present Belle and the Band as part of the Friday at Noon series in Balfour Chapel on the Main Campus of Thomas University.

“This is a bit of a departure from the classical artists we usually present, but these musicians have been creating music together for over 10 years, and they are a really tight group, musically speaking,” said Dr. Karl Barton, series coordinator.

At the melodic intersection that connects folk, bluegrass, and acoustic jazz, Belle and the Band features Kathryn Belle’s soaring vocals with Kevin Robertson, guitar, Mickey Abraham, mandolin, and Mike Snelling, bass.

The program will include selections by Bill Monroe, who is considered to be the “father of bluegrass,” as well as country music legend Bill Cochran. The program will also feature some more traditional folk music and original compositions by Kathryn Belle.

The concert is free and open to the public. A complimentary luncheon will follow the performance. For additional information, visit or call (229) 227-6964.
