Thomas University announces Homecoming 2014 festivities

Nights Hawks past and present will return to Thomas University on Oct. 23-25 for the annual Homecoming activities. This year's events will include the annual Chili Cook-Off, Alumni Awards Dinner and Family Fun Fair.

“Homecoming is an important time to reconnect the past with the present,” said Joseph Newborn, Director of Alumni and Foundation Relations. “Alumni can return to TU and see how much their alma mater has changed, and current students have the opportunity to learn from those alumni while experiencing TU traditions.”

Homecoming festivities begin with the annual Chili Cook-off at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, on TU’s Magnolia Campus, located at the corner of Pinetree Boulevard and Magnolia Street. Contestants can register online and compete for bragging rights and prizes.

The annual Alumni Awards Dinner will celebrate TU’s most outstanding graduates who are making a difference in our world. The dinner will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Glen Arven Country Club. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple.

Saturday, Oct. 25, will feature a Family Fun Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on TU’s Main Campus. Student organizations will have booths along with a bouncy house and food for the entire family.

Also on Saturday, the TU Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Campus Center on Main Campus. All proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase new books for the library.

“TU’s Homecoming has something for everyone,” Newborn said. “We look forward to welcoming everyone to campus to celebrate TU.”

Homecoming T-shirts are available for $15 each through the TU Spirit Shop at
