Tree planted in honor of TU professor

Family, friends and coworkers gather on the evening of Monday, Sept. 30, as Thomas University officials hold a tree planting ceremony in honor of April Penton, a recently retired faculty member of the Division of Education at TU. Penton, who taught Early Childhood Education from 2005 to 2014, is also the coordinator of TU’s long-running Science Café, a monthly series that brings prestigious scientists to TU to share their insights with the area community. She was honored with the TU Professor of the Year Award in 2013.

Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Ann Landis (right) congratulates April Penton during the tree planting ceremony held in Penton’s honor. The new tree now stands outside the Division of Education’s building on TU’s Main Campus.
