Piano trio to perform Friday

Arts for the Community at Thomas University will present Trio 238 featuring violinist Minyoung Cho, cellist Boyan Bonev and pianist Eun Mi Lee on Friday, Sept. 19. This will be the first of the Friday at Noon season series in the chapel of the Thomasville First United Methodist Church, 425 N. Broad St., Thomasville.

Minyoung Cho earned her doctorate at Florida State University and performs in orchestras and with chamber ensembles throughout the region, including the Tallahassee, Valdosta, Albany and Mobile Symphony Orchestras. Boyan Bonev holds Doctor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Florida State University and is currently teaching cello, double bass and orchestra at the University of West Florida and Pensacola State College. Eun-Mi Lee, a native of South Korea, is currently a doctoral candidate at FSU and is in much demand as a collaborative artist.

“We are very fortunate to have this award-winning caliber of young professionals performing in our series, and these three are at the top of their field,” stated series coordinator Karl Barton.

Friday’s program will feature works by Piazzolla and Beethoven.

“These concerts are my very favorite because of the perspective you get in an intimate space like the chapel,” Barton continued. “If you have time, I can't think of a better lunch break!”

The concert is free and open to the public. A complimentary luncheon provided by the church will follow the performance. For additional information visit thomasu.edu/actu or call (229) 227-6964.
