Thomas University to hold two Career Interview Fairs in September

Thomas University’s Career Center, located in the TU Library on the Main Campus, continues to help students, graduates and area residents find the right job.

“We have a full team of interns/career counselors available with walk-in career services offering weekly hours, and on Saturday as well,” David Barnett, Director of Career Services and Instructor of Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling. “We can help prepare you for interviews by assisting with résumés, mock interviews and career assessments weekly on campus as well as through online Skype career counseling by appointment.”

The TU Career Center will hold two Career Interview Fairs in September. The first, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 9, will feature Senior Life Insurance Agency looking for professional insurance agents for its main office and in the field. The fair will be held in the lobby of Smith-Bonvillian Hall on TU’s Main Campus.

The second fair will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 23 in the lobby of Smith-Bonvillian Hall. This fair will feature officials from Microft Inc. searching for 30 relational manager positions for its Albany Call Center, which is currently under construction.

“We ask for students and Thomasville residents to come prepared with a résumé and dressed for success to be interviewed on site by the host employers,” Barnett said.

Barnett stated that career fairs are a great way to expand one’s career options.

“Career fairs are no long just for the unemployed or people searching for jobs,” he said. “Career fairs are important for everyone to attend because they are a great way to network with local professionals, find ways to become more involved in one’s community, and keep options open. Career fairs may also open doors and help you find a career within a professional organization in which you may not think to look.”

Other career interview fairs will be held throughout the academic year. In addition to the fairs, the TU Career Center is open 5-9 p.m. Mondays, 2-5 p.m. and 6:30-8:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, contact Barnett at
