Thomasville delegation returns from China trip
Dr. Gary Bonvillian, President of Thomas University, and his wife, Mary Bonvillian, recently led a group from Thomasville on a sightseeing trip through China from March 27 through April 9. While there the group visited the Great Wall, saw the Terra Cotta Warriors and learned about China’s ancient history in Suzhou, Xian and Shanghai. In the photo above, group members learn about the many varieties of tea.
Group members pose for a picture in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where they also enjoyed dinner. Having dinner in the Great Hall is a rare event that not many have the opportunity to experience. This was made possible by Thomas University’s partners in China, the Thomas University Asian Program group based in the City of Xiamen. Participants include (front from left) Dr. Homer Pankey, Peggy Rich, Joseph Hwang, Michael Wu, Dr. Gary Bonvillian, Mary Bonvillian, Davis Hill, Kathy MacQuirter, Harry Tomlinson and Pat Pankey; (back row) Mazie Wilson, Elaine Rebman, Ken Rebman, Lillia Bernard, Sarah Ogburn, Vincent Manning, Carol Jones, Mary Weber, Ross Jones, Eddie Reichert, Charles Reichert, Dr. Pauline Ray, Scott Rich, Mary Tomlinson, Brad Rothenberg, Amy Rothenberg, Blondenia Gibson and Debra Abrams.
While in China, the group enjoyed learning about the country’s history by visiting the Great Wall (above) and the Terra Cotta Warriors (below).
