Thomas University to hold Career Week
Thomas University’s annual Student Support Services Career Fair will take a more customized approach this year as the fair expands to cover four days, March 17-20. The Career Week will have each day focusing on students and graduates in specific majors. The public is welcome to attend.
“It’s important to hold a career fair to allow our students to learn the value of networking and possibly gain employment after graduation,” said Jen Lindquist, part of Student Support services. “It’s important for our community members and others to have a resource for possible employment.”
Each day’s fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobby of Smith-Bonvillian Hall, which is located on TU’s Main Campus. On Monday, Career Week will focus on Education majors. On Tuesday the focus will be Social Work and Psychology majors. Business, Biology and Nursing majors will be featured on Wednesday. On Thursday Criminal Justice majors and veterans will be featured.
“Career Week helps our students learn how to network and ‘sell their skills’ to possible employers in the comfort and positive atmosphere of TU,” Lindquist said. “Our students are offered workshops to help them prepare for conversations they will have with vendors who are hiring. They are shown many different ways to structure their resumes and cover letters, which allows them to tailor their information to specific employers.”
