TU Social Work Club collects items for Baskets for Babies
The Thomas University Social Work Club is currently accepting items for the Baskets for Babies program, which provides baby care items for infants in foster care through the Thomas County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). The Social Work Club is an organization of social work majors which promotes the field of social work both on-campus and through community activities.
Social Work Club members are collecting nonperishable items, such as diapers, wipes, baby hygiene products, clothes up to size 24 months, bibs, blankets, crib sheets and baby toys. The items will be presented to DFCS personnel at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the Campus Center on TU’s Main Campus.
Thomas County DFCS assists at-risk families and links them to beneficial services. When an infant comes into foster care, DFCS must immediately purchase basic necessities for the child. Through Baskets for Babies, DFCS will have available supplies access to meet the needs of these infants.
For more information about Baskets for Babies or to donate items, contact Dr. Debra L. Gresham at firstname.lastname@example.org, (229) 226-1621 Ext. 1121 or Samantha Rutherford, BSW student, at (229) 224-5940.
Donors can also visit the TU Division of Social Work located on the second floor of Smith-Bonvillian Hall on TU’s Main Campus.
