Thomas University makes U.S. News ranking for low room and board fees
U.S. News & World Report recently released its Short List of the top 10 colleges and universities in the U.S. with the lowest cost for room and board. Thomas University made the list in the sixth position with a room and board cost of $4,800 for the 2013-14 academic year.
“At Thomas University, we strive to be accessible and affordable for students seeking private higher education,” said Dr. Gary Bonvillian, President of TU. “According to the Georgia Independent Colleges Association, Thomas University is ranked second in Georgia for affordability.”
Topping U.S. News & World Report’s low room and board fees short list is Northwestern Oklahoma State University followed by Rust College in Mississippi, William Carey University in Mississippi, Oklahoma Panhandle State University and Auburn University-Montgomery.
According to U.S. News & World Report, between the 2002-03 and 2012-13 academic years, room and board at private, non-profit four-year schools increased each year by 1.9 percent. At their public counterparts, the increase in room and board fees was 2.6 percent per year.
“In recent years state and federal officials have criticized the exorbitant cost of higher education, particularly in the private sector,” Bonvillian said. “Thomas University is proud to be a leader in keeping private higher education affordable.”
