TU’s SCeNE welcomes ‘Survivor’ contestant Rupert Boneham as Fall Forum speaker

RupertBonehamRupert Boneham, a three-time contestant from the TV show “Survivor” will be the featured speaker during the Fall Forum presented by the Southern Center for Nonprofit Excellence (SCeNE) at Thomas University from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Thomasville Center for the Arts.

Boneham is the founder of Rupert’s Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated helping youth ages 18-24 in Indianapolis. According to the organization’s website, these youth have received intensive services in nearly every social service system in the region. These young men and women are often unable to achieve and sustain stable housing and employment. Rupert’s Kids teaches youth valuable skills and trades, while also empowering them to discover their inner strengths, passions and interests.

“We are very fortunate to have someone like Rupert speak at our Fall Forum,” said Rick Munroe, Chair of the SCeNE Advisory Board and Vice President for Advancement at Thomas University. “On ‘Survivor,’ he won a million dollars and used that money to invest in Rupert’s Kids. He’s someone who puts his money where his mouth is. His success in nonprofit sustainability with Rupert’s Kids is something that we can all learn from.”

Created by a consortium of nonprofit leaders with the purpose of strengthening regional charitable organizations, the Southern Center for Nonprofit Excellence (SCeNE) provides high-value professional development and networking opportunities and other resources for the regional nonprofit community. The Center directs its offerings at the intersection of community needs and the distinctive and substantial knowledge base of recognized leaders in the field of philanthropy.

The cost for attending the Fall Forum is $40 for SCeNE members and $50 for non-SCeNE members. To learn more about SCeNE or to register for the Fall Forum, visit www.sceneresources.org or call (229) 227-6903.
