Student Activities Coordinator

Anticipated Start Date: August 11, 2016
Job Description: Under administrative direction from Executive Director of Student Life/Athletics, this administrator provides leadership and direction for the department; administers and manages the student activities program for the University; directs departmental operations; oversees the department budget; sets department goals; coordinates assessment efforts; trains and monitors student workers and event staff, and establishes expected outcomes and implementation strategies for the department. Under new federal guidelines, this is a non-exempt position.
DUTIES:
• Organize and plan New Student Orientation making special efforts to include the needs of other departments and the other members of Student Life in every aspect of planning and implementing
• Coordinate and help develop Diversity programs and event for students as a member of the Diversity Committee
• Plan and coordinate Student Activities, events, including late night programming.
• Serve as the advisor to the Campus Activities Board (CAB).
• Supervise Student Activities and CAB events.
• Coordinate with the Admissions Team to insure smooth operation of the campus visits
• Coordinate special weekend/weeklong programs like NSO and Welcome Back Week
• Responsible for keeping track of the Student Life budget and work closely with the EDSLA to make sure resources are maximized.
• Works with Athletics to insure they are included in planning and implementing activities for all students.
• Work with the Student Life staff and CAB on the activities available on campus. 
• Develop a Club Advisor Manual and train new advisors in their responsibilities to the club and the University 
• Working and meeting with clubs and organizations to maintain and ensure clubs are meeting their organizational standards. 
• Serve as the Campus Conduct Officer, hearing appeals from students from sanctions given by the Manager of Housing.
• Assist in all areas of Student Life.
• Weekend and Evening responsibilities.
• Other duties appropriately assigned as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. 
• Previous experience working in a University environment, and Orientation. 
• Excellent people skills and a desire to make a difference in the lives of college students are essential. 
• Experience managing budgets, planning student activities, and advising student groups will be a necessary skill in the position.

Art Adjunct Professors

Thomas University, an independent, not-for-profit, institution of higher education with undergraduate and graduate programs in Thomasville, Georgia is seeking adjunct instructors for the following Digital Photography and Graphic/Website design courses for Fall Semester 2016 (August 15-December 9). Thomasville, Georgia is located 35 miles north of Tallahassee and commute time ranges from 45 minute to an hour from the FSU campus in Tallahassee, FL and from Valdosta, GA.

ART380 Digital Photography Tuesdays 11:00 am -12:20 pm
ART381/382 Digital Photography II & III Tuesdays 12:30-1:50 pm
ART 390 Principles of Graphic Art and Website Design Tuesdays 9:30-10:50 am

• ART 380 Digital Photography An introduction to software applications associated with computer generated images and their manipulation, including 2D animation.
• ART 381 Digital Photography II This course is designed to further develop student skills in pixel based photography and Adobe Photoshop with an emphasis on concept culminating in an exhibition of selected works. A studio fee will cover expenses for completing three contemporary artist presentations, one artist statement, creation of twenty unique images, and the printing and framing of selected images.
• ART 382 Digital Photography III This course is designed to further develop student skills in pixel based photography and Adobe Photoshop with an emphasis on concept culminating in an exhibition of selected works.
• ART 390 Principles of Graphic Art and Website Design Students will learn the principles of graphic art and website design. The elements of good graphic design, logo creation, and typography will be addressed. Utilizing artistic principles, students will progress to designing, building, and maintaining a functional website.

Minimum Qualifications: A Master's degree with coursework in subject areas directly related to the available courses or extensive professional experience and a record of teaching, or at least eighteen graduate credit hours directly related to the subject areas. Outreach Librarians

Thomas University Library is seeking part-time Outreach Librarians to provide assistance to our online and satellite undergraduate and masters level programs. This position is not campus-based, though the librarian will be expected to occasionally visit the Thomasville, Georgia, campus to participate in staff meetings and engage with other librarians, division chairs and faculty.

The Outreach Librarian will teach information literacy and research; conduct virtual classroom and one-on-one student instruction; prepare course learning materials specific to course needs; maintain usage statistics; and contribute to program assessment. This position will provide discipline specific assistance to academic areas including social sciences, counseling, education, nursing and business with students in the United States and China.

A master’s degree in Library and Information Science is required although a candidate nearing completion of the degree may be considered.

The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with electronic resources and information services as well as with instructional and online technology.  Experience with Blackboard preferred. This position involves 12-15 hours of virtual interaction and availability per week which may include evenings and weekends.

Administrative Assistant to Academic Affairs/ University Receptionist 

Thomas University is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant to Academic Affairs/ University Receptionist to provide clerical and program support Academic Affairs and the Academic Affairs administration and to serve as the receptionist for Forbes Hall and Academic Affairs and as the university switchboard contact person. Administrative Assistant for Student Life/ Athletics         

Coordinates the development and production of informational materials pertaining to student activities including the University student activities/college event calendar, student news magazine, promotional brochures, and press releases. Researches and implements emerging technologies; creates and manages the University internal communication system, as it relates to Student Life, as well as social media outlets, to promote student activities, programs, and services. Will also work closely with the Student Activities Coordinator to assist with planning and disseminating information regarding student activities, and the  Manager of Housing with regards to all matters of Residence Life, as needed.

Assists the coaches and athletics staff with scheduling, promotions, transportation,  and photo work for the website, as well as other various administrative duties.

The applicant should possess superior skills in Microsoft Office Suite programs, and have their own transportation for travelling between campuses.

Faculty Position in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling

The Division of Counseling and Psychology is seeking applicants for a full-time pro-rata faculty position.  The chosen applicant will teach and advise students in our fully online Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program beginning in August 2016.  This is a 12-month position for which the faculty member teaches 3 courses fall, spring, and summer terms.

The best candidates seek engaged teaching in a vibrant and cooperative university environment that fosters students’ personal transformation and professional readiness. Proven excellence in teaching is required. Candidates must be adept in the use of instructional/online technology and prepared to teach in completely online formats.  This position is not campus-based, though the faculty member will be expected to participate virtually in Division meetings and contribute to program assessment and collegial engagement.

Faculty Position in Rehabilitation Counseling / Career Center Coordinator

The Division of Counseling and Psychology is seeking applicants for a full-time one-year faculty position.  The chosen applicant will teach and advise students in Thomas University’s fully-online Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Studies program and oversee Master’s-level fieldwork courses beginning fall semester 2016.  These programs involve dynamic interaction with students in the online and clinical fieldwork environments.  This is a campus-based faculty position with online teaching assignments.  Part of the assigned load is serving as the University’s Career Center Coordinator, responsible for offering career services to students, alumni, and community members through supervision of Master’s-level counseling student interns. 

Proven excellence in teaching is required.  Candidates must be adept in the use of instructional/online technology.  In addition to teaching and advising responsibilities, full-time faculty members also serve on Division and University committees, support the community through professional engagement, and collaborate on research and grant opportunities.

Position for Webmaster

Thomas University seeks a Webmaster for a 30-hour per week Exempt staff position.  The Webmaster is responsible for all aspects of maintaining and improving the University Website as a primary vehicle for marketing and providing information to various audiences and also uses approved social media sites to extend the reach of information.  Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree and experience in a higher education context preferred.  Required minimum of three years of experience maintaining website content and functionality required, including developing, writing, and editing content, ensuring adherence to website style guidelines; and monitoring and analyzing site traffic; experience with Content Management Systems such as WordPress and Drupal, with CSS-based table-less page layouts, and strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript.  Excellent writing, organizational, communication, project management, and interpersonal skills required.

The Division of Business at Thomas University is seeking dynamic professionals to teach Accounting to students in our undergraduate programs in Marketing, Management, and Accounting and/or Master of

Business Administration with a concentration in accounting program beginning August 2015 on an adjunct or pro-rata basis for the upcoming academic year (Fall/Spring/Summer 2015 - 2016).
