Student Success Advisor

Function

This position provides direct services to students to assist in their successful transition to Thomas University and to achieve their goal of program completion.  Student Success Advisor (SSA) is responsible for working with students from first semester registration through graduation by providing support, suggestions, direction and assistance in resolving issues which may prevent students from completing their education

Responsibilities

  1. Establishes and maintains a relationship with all assigned students.
  2. Advise students in academic and success goal-setting and achievement by scheduled and walk-in appointments via email, phone, text, Skype and in-person conversations to ensure they are on-track and potential issues are identified and resolved.
  3. Work with assigned students who are placed on provisional status, academic and or financial aid warning, suspension or probation to develop action plans.  Meet regularly with those students to review progress and resolve issues.
  4. Use critical and creative thinking skills and exercise broad-ranging decision-making and insightful judgment in order to help students chart potential paths to reach academic and professional goals.
  5. Help students define and overcome obstacles to achieving academic and career goals through timely intervention and support
  6. Work with assigned students who take time off to encourage them to re-register for future semesters to complete their educational goals.
  7. Refer students to college resources such as tutoring, mentoring, workshops, Student assistance programs, disability services, veteran’s services and community resources as needed.
  8. Responsible for reviewing, entering and maintaining appropriate student records and data in Thomas University’s electronic student record systems daily to ensure accuracy and sending any updates to the appropriate office.
  9. Ensure assigned students are scheduled appropriately for future semesters.
  10. Attend student success and academic program area departmental meetings as appropriate.
  11. Establish and cultivate relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and student-athlete success advisor to ensure accurate and timely communication and resolution of student needs, obstacles, and questions.
  12. Coordinate and collaborate on initiatives, events, and programs that promote student persistence, retention, and academic and career development learning.
  13. Participate on university committees, new student orientation, academic and career services events, recruitment, student life and engagement initiatives, and graduation as assigned.
  14. Provide weekly regular reports and accurate data regarding activities to the Director of Student Success.
  15. Sustain an accurate, up-to-date body of knowledge about curricula across the institution and the current career landscape in the relevant fields.
  16. Exercise impeccable discretion to implement Thomas University and program-specific policies.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment

Full benefits, letter of employment, Full-Time, 12 Months, Hourly, Non-Exempt position, 40 Hours/Week, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Work Conditions & Requirements

  1. Standard office hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, occasional evening and weekend hours may be required

Director of Admissions

Exempt

Position Overview:

Reports to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. Responsible for effective leadership, supervision and processing of new students and administrative functions to meet organizational goals.  Oversees cultivation of relationships with high schools, community colleges and corporate partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises admission representatives and admission office associate. 
  • Participates in development of a comprehensive enrollment plan. 
  • Manages plan execution, reviews and approves travel calendars.
  • Participates in admission recruitment, travel and phone-call campaigns.
  • Responsible for international student file completion and issuance of I-20s.
  • Coordinates recruitment processes with identified partners (e.g. KTA)
  • Develops and leads ongoing training for admissions staff related to recruitment and admission procedures.
  • Oversees accurate completion of applicant files, file review and works closely with division chairs as needed.
  • Ensures campus visits for individual and groups are done in a professional manner.
  • Coordinates cultivation and nurturing of relationships with high schools, community colleges and corporate partners.
  • Coordinates with Vice President for Enrollment and Director of Marketing to ensure collateral, website and other recruiting communications are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Oversees accuracy of data entry in computer systems.
  • Monitors and reviews follow up of inquiries and applicants to ensure timely and appropriate follow up.
  • Works closely with enrollment support offices to ensure students complete the enrollment process (financial aid, student accounts)
  • Ensures a positive working environment.
  • Works flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

 Skills and Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Record of successful sales and sales management required
  • Prior college admissions experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Sales Force or other Customer Relationship Management software preferred.
  • MicroSoft Office experience

  • Experience working with high school, adult military and online markets highly preferred.

Nursing Faculty – China Programs

Thomas University, Georgia, U.S.A. is seeking to hire nursing faculty members to teach Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) courses in our BSN cooperation programs in China in Spring 2018 (March to June 2018) and Summer 2018 (May to June 2018). Thomas University is granted approval by the U.S. and Chinese governments and its accrediting commissions to deliver the RN-BSN cooperation programs at its partner universities campuses in China. 

Qualifications:

  • A registered nurse who holds a Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited U.S. or other western university/college is required.
  • The applicant must be a licensed registered nurse from one of the United States and committed to quality nursing education.
  • Earned doctorate in nursing or a related discipline is highly desirable.

Position:

  • Commitment to teach for a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks for Spring and Summer 2018.

VA Work Study Position Description

Position Overview:  The VA Work Study will provide assistance to the Thomas University Veterans Services and Career Transition Center. Candidates must have thorough communication and listening skills, work ethic, and genuine desire to assist stakeholders with acquiring the services and support offered through the center. Other desired skills include good organizational skills, computer skills, detail oriented, data entry, and a strong customer-service focus. 


Responsibilities:

1. Assist with administrative tasks associated with recruiting and retention of undergraduate and graduate Veteran students into TU degree programs
2. Maintain the TU Vet Center daily operations
3. Assist with preparation of reports to the Associate Vice President showing all recruitment and retention activities, outcomes, and follow-up procedures used to increase inquiries
4. Open and close TU Vet Center based on approved hours
5. Maintain the physical appearance of the center
6. Connect students with the appropriate service and/or resources
7. Collect all necessary paperwork for processing education benefits

Work Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those
an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Work is normally performed inside under normal office conditions and employee
may be exposed to varying temperatures, humidly and moderate noise.

Work requires:

- Keying data into computer repeatedly during an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Reaching/handling of various equipment repeatedly during an 8-hour shift.

Admissions Representative

Non-Exempt

Position Overview:
Reports to the Director of Admission. Is primarily responsible for participating in meaningful recruitment travel and events as well as successfully managing an applicant pool with the main objective of converting prospective students to applicants and converting applicants to enrolled students.

Responsibilities:

1. Plans, schedules and participates in relevant recruitment events. Works with Director of Admissions to review travel plans.

2. Participates in long and short range travel as required. Completes post travel/event reports.

3. Gives large and small group presentations while speaking informatively and enthusiastically on behalf of the college and its academic programs.

4. Develops and maintains close working relationships with all organizational contacts including school counselors, educators, police chiefs, nursing administrators, etc.

5. Serves as liaison between admission and academic departments by maintaining contact with division chairs as assigned programmatically and assists with weekly reports to division chairs on current applicant base.

6. Maintains timely communication and enrollment counseling to prospective students and applicants.

7. Manages applicant files and maintains persistent regular contact with applicants via phone, email and postal mail.

8. Follows enrollment processes for student file completion and conversion as stated and meets the demands of said processes. This process is not complete until the applicant is registered for classes.

9. Provides an informative and welcoming environment for prospective students and their families during a campus visit, campus tour or university event. Assists with group tours.

10. Organizes and inputs communication with prospective students, parents, and TU alumnae in the CAMS database.

11. Assists with placement exams both on campus and at remote locations.

12. Represents Thomas University in a positive, non-biased, non-offensive manner.

13. Works as a team player in order to meet the goals of the university in keeping with the TU mission statement.

14. Works flexible hours, Including evenings and weekends, with periods of frequent travel.
