Director of Dynamic Learning Environments

Thomas University seeks a Director of Dynamic Learning Environments to support the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning in both traditional and online environments in a full-time twelve-month staff position. The Director of Dynamic Learning Environments investigates and recommends educational technologies, applications, and/or solutions appropriate for particular delivery needs, acquires and implements those technologies, trains and assists faculty and students in their use, and advocates for the integration of current technologies and instructional design principles that enable active learning and effective and engaged instruction. The Director of Dynamic Learning Environments provides first-tier support for faculty and assists in ensuring rigorous and secure learning environments.

Thomas University offers traditional, hybrid, and synchronous and asynchronous online courses, utilizing Blackboard Learn v. 9.1 and ancillary modules as well as other web-conferencing, lecture capture, proctoring, and content support software.  Our faculty brings experience and commitment to developing high-quality course delivery through various models. The Director of Dynamic Learning Environments assists in making expertise and currency with instructional technologies pervasive in our course design and teaching. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.

A master’s degree is required.  The position requires a minimum of three years' experience in information or instructional technology services; previous experience in an academic setting and assisting faculty; a demonstrated pedagogical and practical understanding of best practices in instructional design and the use of educational technologies; proven facility with Blackboard Learn; a proven ability to collaborate with university faculty and administrators;  proactive problem-solving skills; excellent written and oral communication; an orientation to customer service; and a passion for enabling effective educational environments.

Faculty Position in Chemistry/Physical Science

The Division of Math and Science at Thomas University is seeking a faculty member to teach students in Chemistry and Physical Science courses in the Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, and Middle Grades Science Education programs beginning Fall 2015.  Primary courses include General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physical Science Survey courses.   

The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative, collegial work relationships in a university environment that fosters students’ personal transformation and professional readiness.

A master’s in Chemistry is required; a doctorate in Chemistry and additional graduate preparation in Physics is preferred.  The best candidate has a minimum of two years teaching experience with proven excellence in teaching undergraduates.  The candidate should be adept in the practice of instructional/online technology and pedagogy, and seek engaged teaching in delivery models that blend online and face-to-face teaching and learning.

Admissions Associate

Thomas University seeks an Admissions Associate who is responsible for college student recruitment, admissions events, and converting prospective students to applicants and applicants to enrolled students. A bachelor’s degree is required with a preferred minimum of one year of Admissions experience and preferred Student Records System experience.

Candidates should have the ability to effectively communicate in writing, interpersonally, and through public speaking and possess high energy, attention to detail, and organizational skills. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary is also required.

Division of Education Faculty Position

The Division of Education at Thomas University is seeking applications for a full-time continuing faculty member to teach and advise students in our Education certification programs and our Master of Education and Education Specialist programs beginning Fall Semester 2015.  In addition to teaching and advising responsibilities, full-time faculty members also serve on departmental and university committees, participate in community partnerships, collaborate on research and grant opportunities, and participate in professional organizations and conferences. 

A doctorate in teacher education and proven excellence in teaching is required.   Successful applicants will have three years’ experience teaching grades PK-12 and experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:  ESOL, Reading, English/Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, and Teacher Leadership. Candidates must be adept in the use of instructional technology and have experience in hybrid/online course development. College/university teaching experience is preferred.  Successful candidates will also have experience with the supervision of candidates in practicum and internships, edTPA, Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Standards, and the development of school-university partnerships.

Medical Laboratory Science Assistant Professor

The Medical Laboratory Science Program at Thomas University invites applications for a full-time, campus-based, 12- month faculty position. Applicants must have a master’s degree, earned doctorate preferred; national certification as a MLS generalist required; and a minimum of 3 years clinical experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Proven excellence in teaching and in the use of instructional/online technology and its pedagogy is required. The candidate’s teaching responsibilities will include lecture and lab components in Medical Laboratory Science areas to be determined in consultation with the program director.

Faculty Positions in Nursing

Thomas China Programs is seeking faculty to teach in our innovative RN-BSN programs in China. Full-time, part-time, and visiting professor applicants are invited to apply for appointments of a semester or longer.

Thomas University holds approval by the Chinese Central Government to deliver a cooperative program for students at the following Chinese partner universities to earn TU’s RN-BSN in China: Wenzhou Medical College (Zhejiang Province), Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Jiangxi Province), and Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities (Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region).
