Director of Foundation Relations & Grant Writer

As the institution’s Director of Foundation Relations & Grant Writer, the incumbent plans and implements a comprehensive grant program, including researching and identifying potential granting agencies, corporations, and foundations, writing proposals, and in some cases coordination of the deliverables, such as reports on expenditures or programs.

Essential Job Functions

Plan and implement a comprehensive grant program, including:

  • in coordination with the entire TU community, researching and identifying potential granting agencies, corporations, and foundations;
  • writing proposals and submitting proposals, including locating and incorporating required documents and information;
  • in some cases, coordination of deliverables, such as reports on expenditures or programs; and,
  • in coordination with the VP and Director of Development, donor stewardship.
  • Cultivate relationships on behalf of the university with persons of influence in granting corporations and organizations.
  • Keep accurate records on grant status and outcomes; provide reports, as requested.
  • Participate as a member of the Institutional Advancement team, as needed/assigned, in other IA-related projects and tasks.

Chair of the Business Division

This is a full-time faculty appointment that includes administrative duties and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. The Chair is expected to serve as a leader on Division and University committees, pursue professional and scholarly development, actively participate in community partnerships, and collaborate on research and grant opportunities.  Rank is open, and salary is commensurate with experience.

A doctorate in Business or related field is required. Disciplinary expertise in any Business field will be considered. Candidates must have a proven record of excellent teaching and departmental leadership, accreditation and program management experience, and entrepreneurial vision for growing the Division’s programs. The Chair must provide leadership for domestic and international program initiatives, engender rigorous programs, and support engaged faculty. Experience working with procurement, logistics, and/or project management is a plus. Candidates must be adept in the use of instructional technology and have experience in hybrid/online course development.

DESCRIPTION:

Instructional Designer

Position Overview:   The instructional Designer will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and Thomas University’s Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Program Coordinator to develop online course materials for TU’s DAU offerings.  

Responsibilities:

  •  Assist Subject Matter Experts in developing DAU courses for TU.
  •  Ensure working copies of the course material and the pre-defined primary folder structures are prepared for SMEs.
  • Perform aesthetic enhancements to SME developed coursework.
  • Validate final course designs to ensure they are logical and instructionally sound, and submit course material for DAU certification

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Instructional Design or closely related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  •  Experience in working with DAU preferred.
  • Knowledge and minimum two years of Instructional Design experience with a proven track record of developing high quality online content.
  •  Experience with Blackboard LMS.
  •  Must be detail oriented, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and familiar with higher education terminology.
  •  Ability to work independently to complete tasks.

VA Work Study Position Description

Position Overview:  The VA Work Study will provide assistance to the Thomas University Veterans Services and Career Transition Center. Candidates must have thorough communication and listening skills, work ethic, and genuine desire to assist stakeholders with acquiring the services and support offered through the center. Other desired skills include good organizational skills, computer skills, detail oriented, data entry, and a strong customer-service focus. 


Responsibilities:

1. Assist with administrative tasks associated with recruiting and retention of undergraduate and graduate Veteran students into TU degree programs
2. Maintain the TU Vet Center daily operations
3. Assist with preparation of reports to the Associate Vice President showing all recruitment and retention activities, outcomes, and follow-up procedures used to increase inquiries
4. Open and close TU Vet Center based on approved hours
5. Maintain the physical appearance of the center
6. Connect students with the appropriate service and/or resources
7. Collect all necessary paperwork for processing education benefits

Admissions Representative

Non-Exempt

Position Overview:
Reports to the Director of Admission. Is primarily responsible for participating in meaningful recruitment travel and events as well as successfully managing an applicant pool with the main objective of converting prospective students to applicants and converting applicants to enrolled students.

Responsibilities:

1. Plans, schedules and participates in relevant recruitment events. Works with Director of Admissions to review travel plans.

2. Participates in long and short range travel as required. Completes post travel/event reports.

3. Gives large and small group presentations while speaking informatively and enthusiastically on behalf of the college and its academic programs.

4. Develops and maintains close working relationships with all organizational contacts including school counselors, educators, police chiefs, nursing administrators, etc.

5. Serves as liaison between admission and academic departments by maintaining contact with division chairs as assigned programmatically and assists with weekly reports to division chairs on current applicant base.

6. Maintains timely communication and enrollment counseling to prospective students and applicants.

7. Manages applicant files and maintains persistent regular contact with applicants via phone, email and postal mail.

8. Follows enrollment processes for student file completion and conversion as stated and meets the demands of said processes. This process is not complete until the applicant is registered for classes.

9. Provides an informative and welcoming environment for prospective students and their families during a campus visit, campus tour or university event. Assists with group tours.

10. Organizes and inputs communication with prospective students, parents, and TU alumnae in the CAMS database.

11. Assists with placement exams both on campus and at remote locations.

12. Represents Thomas University in a positive, non-biased, non-offensive manner.
