Adjunct Professor of Social Work

DESCRIPTION:

Thomas University an independent, not-for-profit, institution of higher education with undergraduate and graduate programs in Thomasville, Georgia seeks applicants for its adjunct faculty pool in the field of Social Work. Positions are available on an as­needed basis.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Services Librarian

Thomas University Library is seeking a full-time Technical Services Librarian to oversee and carry out all functions of library technical services including original and copy cataloging of all materials for the main and special library, to maintain the integrity of the library’s bibliographic records in OCLC and the online catalog, and to serve as system administrator of the integrated automated library system.

A MLS or MLIS from an accredited ALA institution is required although a candidate nearing completion of the degree may be considered. Three years of professional library experience and/or two to four years of relevant technical library training or experience preferred.

Candidate must have knowledge of current cataloging practices including proficiency with the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd ed. (AACR2), Resource Description and Access (RDA) and MARC formats. Experience cataloging in an academic library preferred.

Experience with integrated library systems required; OCLC Worldshare Management System preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with electronic resources and information services as well as with online technology.  Evening and occasional weekend work is required. Director of Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Director reports to the Chief Financial Officer and leads the development and implementation of financial aid strategies, policies and processes that serve the institution's goals. This position ensures the compliance with all applicable federal, state, and institutional rules and policies, while ensuring a high level of student service. Serves as primary institutional resource for financial assistance matters and collaborates closely with a wide variety of internal and external constituencies.

Duties:

  1. Provides overall management of financial aid programs including federal and state grants, loans, work-study, and other aid programs.
  2. Supervise Senior Financial Aid Counselor, Financial Aid Specialist and other employees reporting to the Financial Aid Office.
  3. Coordinate fiscal operations of student financial aid programs with the Business Office.
    1. Track Federal Pell Grant, SEOG and Federal College Work-Study payments to students and reconcile for reporting on the FISAP.
    2. Use CAMS to generate reports, share information, and package financial aid.
    3. Prepare and submit periodic reports for internal and external sources.
    4. Assist with completing the IPEDS report.
    5. Reconcile financial aid data each semester for all financial aid programs.
    6. Reconcile Direct Loans, Pell, and Teach Grant monthly.
      1. Counsel current and prospective students as well as parents regarding available financial aid and field questions relating to financial aid resources and applications.
      2. Conduct financial aid workshops, seminars, and fairs on and off campus; create materials (i.e. PowerPoint handouts, flyers, etc.) used in conjunction with these events.
      3. Supervise the evaluation of financial aid applications and supporting documents to determine student eligibility and make professional judgments as necessary.
        1. Counsel students contemplating withdrawal from classes and the possible effects on financial aid awards and student debt.
        2. Monitor academic status of students with regard to compliance with federal quantitative and qualitative regulations.
        3. Serve on committee to review financial aid appeals for students not meeting federal quantitative standards.
        4. Annually, set specific goals for accomplishing the overall goals of the University as they pertain to the operation of the Financial Aid Office.
        5. Compile necessary data, and submit the annual FISAP report.
        6. Package financial aid awards.
        7. Review income reduction and dependency adjustment (professional judgment) requests.
        8. Maintain the content on the financial aid pages of the University website and catalogue.
        9. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a poised and professional image; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and efficiently with all visitors and students while projecting a positive image for the department and University.
  2. Must be service oriented with ability to make all visitors feel welcome.
  3. Must be proficient in windows-based software including word processing, spreadsheet skills, and ability to learn new software programs as needed.
  4. Master’s degree preferred (Bachelor’s degree with experience will be considered).
  5. Five years of applicable experience in Financial Aid at either a private four-year liberal arts institution or a comprehensive four-year public institution, and experience with relational databases (CAMS) preferred.
  6. Experience working with security sensitive information and confidential records.

Position Ad for Chair of Division of Business

Thomas University is seeking a Chair of the Division of Business to begin Fall Semester 2017.  This is a full-time faculty appointment that includes administrative duties and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Management, Marketing, Accounting) and Master of Business Administration programs.

A doctorate in Business or related field is required.
